Little Bird Lacation

“Breastfeeding is an instinctual and natural act, but it is also an art that is learned day by day. The reality is that almost all women can breastfeed, have enough milk for their babies and learn how to overcome problems both large and small. It is almost simply a matter of practical knowledge and not a question of good luck.”
-La Leche League

Learn the Basics and Beyond

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for approximately 6 months followed by continued breastfeeding with complementary foods for at least 2 years and beyond as mutually desired.

There are numerous benefits to breastfeeding both for Mom and baby. Studies have shown that breastfeeding can lower your child’s risk for cancer, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), obesity, ear infections, diabetes, asthma, respiratory infections, celiac disease and meningitis. It can even raise your child’s IQ. It promotes bonding. It reduces the risk for breast and ovarian cancer for Mom. It also lowers Mom’s risk for postpartum depression, stroke and heart attack. These are just a few of the numerous benefits to breastfeeding. If you wish to breastfeed your child and are having difficulty we are here to help!
