Meet Dr. Christopher Rogers, the newest member of the Pediatric Associates of Savannah family. Dr. Rogers attended Georgia Southern University where he completed his undergraduate degree in biology. He then went on to complete medical school at Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah and received his pediatric training at Levine Children’s Hospital, which is part of the Carolinas Medical Center. While his educational achievements are certainly impressive, who is Dr. Rogers outside of his pediatric profession?
During undergrad, Dr. Rogers was the kicker on the Georgia Southern football team and, to this day, is one of the biggest Georgia Southern football fans you will ever meet. He’s a big proponent of throwing out a “Go Eagles” or “Hail Southern” whenever and wherever he has the chance. In fact, Dr. Rogers named his first dog, Erk, after the famed Georgia Southern football coach, Erk Russell. Dr. Rogers was also named one of the 2018 “40 Under 40” graduates from the Georgia Southern Alumni Association.
Dr. Rogers met his wife, Kylee, while he was attending medical school and they have since been married for over 3 years. While they don’t have any children of their own, they do have two fur-babies: Erk, a springer spaniel, and Marlow, a great dane. We have Kylee to thank for Dr. Rogers falling in love with the Savannah area, since she was born and raised right here in our community.
Something else you probably wouldn’t have known about Dr. Rogers is that he is an avid comic book reader and loves following along with the ever-developing stories of superheroes. For as long as he can remember, he’s been religiously reading comic books from all the superhero worlds. His favorite superheroes are The Flash and The Avengers. He believes that The Avengers, while also just being plain cool, are a great example of how teamwork and diversity allow great things to be accomplished, and that that is a great lesson to teach children.
While not originally from the area, Dr. Rogers is excited to start his practice here and get to know the families of Savannah. Fresh out of training, Dr. Rogers is here to advocate on behalf of the children of Savannah and provide them with the most up-to-date and evidence-based care available.
